The February video journal debuted on Facebook, and this one deals with the design of Rorschach’s mask and the digital effects that make the vigilante's inkblots move.
Hold on. The video is about Rorschach’s mask and it was put on Facebook. Oh, I get it. Clever.
The video features Zack Snyder explaining the origins of the character and his mask as other member of the crew explaining how they designed the practical masks as well as the visual effects that make it “move.”
My favorite part of the video is when Watchmen costumer designer Michael Wilkinson is discussing Jackie Earle Haley, who plays Rorschach in the film, by explaining, “he’s compact and he’s mean, he’s like this kinda little crazy terrier.”
It’s no surprise that this video was put on Facebook as over the past couple of weeks “official” Watchmen character fan pages have been popping up. Some of the pages still haven’t been created yet, while others — like The Comedian, Rorschach and Dr. Manhattan — have exclusive dialog sound clips, photos, and other content embedded on their pages.
Now you won’t need a Facebook account to see the video journal or these character pages, but, if you want to chat with fellow fans and sign up for content alerts and event reminders, well, you're just going to have to join.
