Contest: Watchmen In One Sentence

In a recent video interview with Dave Gibbons, I asked the esteemed illustrator if he could sum up briefly what the very complex story of Watchmen was all about. He couldn’t do it.

He then joked that if some fan could do it properly, they should win a prize.

Alright Dave — you’re on. Submit your one sentence description of the story of Watchmen to and I will pick what I think are the ten best. Then, I’ll send those ten to Mr. Gibbons and have him pick the winners.

I know what you’re thinking — I’ll submit a massive run-on sentence that would make even William Faulkner choke, right? Don't. We’re looking for the most concise description that you can come up with, so choose your words wisely.

First place will receive a copy of each of Titan’s new books — Watchmen Portraits, Watchmen: The Art of the Film, and Watchmen: The Film Companion. Two runners up will receive a copy of Watchmen: The Film Companion.

All entries must be received by 12:01 a.m. EST Feb. 17, 2009. Winners will be contacted by e-mail. Prizes courtesy Titan Books.
