It’s been a while since the costume photos were released that we’ve had anything to report on in the world of Watchmen, so here’s a little something to wet your whistle with.
In a recent interview with MTV.ca, Keanu Reeves talked about how he was almost cast as Dr. Manhattan in the upcoming Zack Snyder film adaptation, as well as how he was impressed with what he saw during a visit to the movie’s Vancouver set.
MTV: There was a lot of talk for a while that you were going to play Dr. Manhattan in the "Watchmen" film. Did you want to do it?
Reeves: Yeah, absolutely. It just didn't work out.
MTV: So it was just scheduling, that kind of thing?
Reeves: Yeah, but they got [Billy] Crudup to play it, who's fantastic.
MTV: There are a lot of people, myself included, who are just dying to see how that turns out.
Reeves: Man, I went to the set. They were shooting in Vancouver while we were filming, so I went over to the set to say hi. They showed me some stuff, and it looks amazing! I can't wait. It's going to be so killer, man!
Reeves just wrapped on shooting of the remake of the classic science fiction movie The Day the Earth Stood Still, which, oddly enough, has a connection to Watchmen. The film title appears on a New York City theater marquee in the Watchmen comic book series as a reference to themes both the Watchmen narrative and the iconic 50’s sci-fi film share.
