Watchmen By The Book

If there’s one thing the upcoming movie has done to many comic fans is resurrect a new interest in the seminal comic series Watchmen.

And in the wake of new merchandise like the action figures announced at last month’s Comic Con, Dave Gibbons, illustrator of the comics classic is releasing a new book: Watching The Watchmen.

This impressive tome, which will be published by Titan Books and scheduled to be released in October 2008 will be, according to an official press release, “the definitive companion to the graphic novel that changed an industry.”

Inside the hardback volume, artist Dave Gibbons gives his own account of the genesis of Watchmen and open his archives to reveal excised pages, early versions of the script, original character designs, page thumbnails, sketches and much more, including posters, covers and rare portfolio art.

WatchmenComicMovie.com has spoken with the press department at Titan books and is working on some exclusive surprises to release to fans as we get closer to the book’s publication date. Nothing is confirmed yet, but we will do our best to get you a closer look at the anticipated book before its release date. Stay tuned.

On a related note, Titan Books has just released a “deluxe edition” of Batman: The Killing Joke which was penned by Watchmen author Alan Moore.
