Official video journal steps inside the costume department’s dedication to being faithful to the source material

Well it’s the sixth of the month again and a new Watchmen movie video journal has been posted, this time on along with an introduction from director Zack Snyder…

To put it simply, there is an enormous amount of characters that populate the many time periods and environments of the Watchmen world. Although we encountered many challenges while making Watchmen, one of the most interesting and rewarding was creating the wardrobe for all of those people. This is the second time I've had the pleasure of working with Costume Designer Michael Wilkinson. Once again, I'm amazed by his talent and dedication. Take a look.

Now, don’t get too excited — you’re not going to see any of the main characters walking around in their hero suits, but you well get a good look at some of the secondary characters and a few of the main characters in their “civvies.”

The video primarily deals with all of the extras they had to dress and the various time periods of the twentieth century over which these costumes span.

For those of you who are still reading this article and not watching the video, here’s a rundown of some of the details you can expect to see…

You’ll see Carla Gugino as Silk Spectre I posing for a photograph with some period cops. You’ll see Danny Woodburn as Big Figure (from behind). You’ll see Matthew Goode as Adrian Veidt in a smashing purple sports jacket. You’ll see a gang of nasty “knot tops” And you’ll see a hell of a lot more.

And be sure to check out’s in-depth photographic analysis of all of the important frames of this video journal in our video still frame gallery.
