The word on the net is that a city backlot set that is currently being built where Byrne Road meets Marine Drive is for the upcoming movie The Day The Earth Stood Still starring Keanu Reeves. Well, its not. How do I know this?
It would take more than a casual fan of the graphic novel to pick this up, but in some recent leaked photos of the set, if you look closely at the sign on one of the buildings in the back, you will see that it says “RUMRUNNER” and has the double “R” skull and crossbones logo that appears in the graphic novel.
Now, I'm going to go out on a limb here. Could this remake be a shadow production used to mask some of the shooting on Watchmen? There hasn’t been much said about this remake and we have two clues that may point to some evidence here.
First, it was rumored that Day star Keanu Reeves was to play Dr. Manhattan, plus, there are references to the film The Day The Earth Stood Still in the Watchmen graphic novel. It’s very unlikely, but the pieces fit nicely. Hurm.
