8/10

Another chance, I have given this movie.

Very satisfied, I have left after watching it.

That's a particulary nice variant on the artwork, I must say. Someone's been practicing with the coloured pencils!

Killer Elite
not bad, I like the period, slightly ruined by a slightly phoned in Robert DeNiro performance, but watchable.

Machine Gun Preacher
not bad, a bit preachy but a good story, by all accounts it is VERY exaggerated, and I think the message at the end, that "you shouldn't rely on God to do good, God does jack shit." is an important one.

When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

^ lol, I actually watched some new Futurama last night

anyway, it was cheap night at the cinema so I went and saw Ted
I was in stitches a good few times, loved a lot of the cameos and meta-references, and Flash Gordon stuff :D overall very enjoyable.

Was there awful voice-over narration by Harrison Ford and an ending with mountains and green pastures taken from The Shining?

If so, that was the theatrical cut.

Btw, there are several different versions, the Final Cut supposedly being the best and the theatrical cut the worst. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Versions_of_Blade_Runner

None whatsoever, he only holds the paper unicorn in his hand, smirks, and then goes into the elevator. The End.

I have to say, of all the "Ridley Scott Heroes", Deckard is my favorite, he's sympathetic and kind, as shown in his final scene with Roy, he is also inmensely intelligent, as demonstrated in the end where SPOILERS --> he is assured of what he already deduced, that he is a replicant.

that would be either the final cut or director's cut, they're almost the same. probably the final cut.

If you notice, in the final cut all the replicants' eyes have this slight almost missable glow in the center
and a few times especially towards the end, you can see it in Deckard's eyes too.
Was pretty cool I thought.

Well, that was great. I really need to watch more David Lynch films.

Twin Peaks too.

Yeah, Lost Highway is truly one great, messed-up dream. I was in my late teens when Twin Peaks played on TV for the first time. It was pretty exciting.

I watched Wes Anderson's latest, Moonrise Kingdom a couple of days ago. I am a big fan, and really enjoyed it. Bruce Willis and Ed Norton both delivering terriffic, new performances. And the two teen-leads were great.
It was shot on super 16, and boy is it refreshing to see a film where the celluloid is such a part of the storytelling.
Anderson's films always make you aware you are watching composed, filmed narrative, he never tries to fool you into an immersive experience in the way most modern filmakers do... and none so much as this film. Absolutely loved it.

Brilliant use of music also, mostly Benjamin Britten against Hank Williams... but also the original score is awesome.
I think this may be the first time I have seen every member of the orchestra given a credit at the end of the movie..

score: many points out of a possible many.

The movie gets incredibly preachy during the third act, but it's still a wonderfully creative film that takes a surprising amount of risks. Throw in some sterling animation and I can still gladly recommend it.

I needed a little internet help to figure it out, but that was another great surreal psychological thriller. That's 3 for 3, Mr. Lynch.

I almost saw it last night but I ended up getting out late from work, and thus missing the bus that would have taken me to the desired showing. I hate limited releases.

Melancholia. what did I just watch! it was long and boring for the most part but the last half hour was pretty good and I'm not sure if it would have been without the first 90 minutes. still undecided.

They really took the Spider-man franchise in a completely different direction.

Yeah I was over in Singapore for a couple of nights and I randomly checked the movie times and saw it was on, starting in 40 minutes in a part of town I had never been to... rushed out, grabbed a cab and made it into the theatre a minute or two before it started. Seriously didn't expect it to even show in that town, which pretty much just plays mainstream releases only.
