Well, seeing how these guys (with the exception of Snyder) gave us Batman Begins which is an origins story, I have faith they can give us a good Superman origin story

Wasn't Batman Begins based on a specific graphic novel ? I think at least it took influences from something.

Then again, "based on" is not really a requirement (sp).

Loosely on Miller's Year One, but it had elements from many other comics (like YO doesn't mention Al Ghul at all)

Year One doesn't have a serious villain AT ALL

Still, Nolan, Goyer and Snyder are on board, as long as that's happening I think we can allow ourselves to be optimistic.

It's the very fact that it's going to be an origin story that makes it discouraging.

Carmine Falcone, just as big of a villain in Batman's early days

This. And I don't want to see a Snyder directed Superman where we spend more time with Clark Kent, and less time with Superman tearing up shit. Which is why you want someone like Snyder doing Superman.

It's understandable in BB since it was rebooting the franchise.

As for this movie, I'm seeing contradictory reports, so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

So? Everyone on the planet knows who fucking Superman is, it's just a cop out at this point. Origin stories have been beaten to death lately.

I hate to split hairs, but Snyder did say that he was going to focus on the "early days" of Superman. That doesn't necessarily mean a rehash of the origin story. That could mean Clark Kent's first day at the Daily Planet, for all we know.

Also, while I still think that Brandon Routh is the way to go, I'm now intrigued at the notion of what Lee Pace could do as Superman.

Looks like Jon Hamm may still be in the running for Superman?

i think if they cast older they will really have to do some of supes' major SF villains, sure, in his early days he was just fighting street level crime, and then later Luthor etc, but if Supes' is going to be ~40, he should already be very seasoned, and be fighting more of the big villains, Luthor with powersuit, Brainiac, Metallo.

i see a lot of people saying that Routh may return, but i actually think i'd rather see Spacey return as Luthor, regardless of who is playing Superman, even playing opposite Hamm he is old enough. i think Kevin Spacey in a powersuit would be pretty daunting too,
