Looks to me like it could either be a very pleasant surprise, or a very spectacular trainwreck. Either way, color me interested.

I just hate these stupid re-imaginings of classic children's tales where the characters end up being badasses.

Goldilocks is back from the dead and out for revenge...and this time she's brought some friends...

This one is too hot...
This one is even hotter...
This one is out of sight!

What worries me is that this movie was made AGES ago, I read a set report for it like 2 years ago, I'm pretty sure.

what takes so long to make a movie?

Wait a minute, didn´t this end production more or less around the same time the Avengers started theirs? The time lapse is understandable considering all the cgi that we see.

Have no problem with what they are doing. Better to do this with fables then to wreck pre-existing properties that hold a lot more strength.

Renner being badass=I´m sold.

Edit: wtf, January 13th? Tought this came out this September. Well, 6 months apart from the Avengers...

That's a positive thought :o !

Even though, with the current trend, I'll be surprised if ANY pre-existing property survives the butchering.

You don´t need to buy the rights to fables. Some games developers aren´t that willing to let go of their IPs(the garantied money makers). As to comic books, DC/WB control a lion share, and then it´s all spread betwenn Marvel,Sony and Fox. Or does Universal have rights for a comic book?

Like I said, this is easier.

It's true, but the last thing that studio executives will ever lack in their lifetimes is money.

Then why hasn´t Call of Duty been turned into a movie?

Plus, some companies ask for control over the script( Valve with Half-Life, Microsoft with Halo), and execs just don´t want people doing things their way with their money.

Why do you think Mass Effect is being turned into a movie? Dudes at Edmonton have no sense of ownership whatsoever considering the reports .
Wouldn´t it be more lucrative for them to ask a nice animation studio to pick the game scripts and do a min-series(more like series, but you catch my drift), and then use EA to distribute?
Heck, I´m not asking for something like this:

This is fucking Blur we are talking. Too expensive, but the proof of concept is here.

I think there are enough war movies (even modern and future) to not need a CoD movie.

Also it would be completely stupid to make a CoD movie, which would essentially be a war movie with the CoD brand printed on the poster, when you could make basically the same movie without the CoD brand, and not have to pay Activision for the rights to make a CoD movie.

the only reason to make a CoD movie would be to make money from a mediocre war movie, using the CoD brand to sell it.
