It's about time we had a thread. Since here is a teaser and they'll be a trailer this weekend apparently.

I personally think it looks kinda awesome. Len Wiseman hadn't made a bad movie yet as far as I know, although Underworld Evolution was basically a vanity project for Kate Beckinsale, it wasn't bad. And Die Hard 4 was unexpectedly awesome, so I have a lot of hope.

Die Hard 4.0 failed for not using its original title and for not being the hard R movie it was originally intended to be such that they edited out all blood and language. Otherwise, I would agree.

I'm a huge fan of the original as amazing Schwarzenegger camp fun, and even I'm looking forward to the remake I have to say.

I always thought it was funny - total recall is often considered a silly sci fi film undeserving of a remake, but it was based off a Philip k. Dick short called "we can remember it for you wholesale." The man has written some great works and his source material has been tapped for countless films. I'm definitely excited about the updated vision. Even though I don't want Colin Farrell AT. ALL.

I've liked him since Minority Report, which makes me wonder if he's a really big Philip K Dick fan actually.

now this is a bold statement that I disagree with, to say the very least

But seems interesting...

I watched all four in a row and they all suck.

Honestly, I'm just amused that Len Wiseman is trying to handle this material.

Remember, this is based on a Philip K. Dick story. That man loved to play with subjective reality, and the question of "What is real?" played a strong yet subtle part of the first movie. And judging from the promos of the movie so far, it'll most likely play a part of the remake as well.

Granted, it was Paul Verhoeven behind the camera last time, and sugar-coating intellectual material with action and spectacle was his bread and butter. But then I think of Len Wiseman trying to do a movie with that level of thematic depth. I think of him trying to balance action with philosophy in an effective way. And then I burst out laughing.

that was not his choice, so you can't blame him, he's not a PG-13 director normally.
