Yes, I am one of those people who holds out hope that Shyamalan will return to form.
This looks hopeful. It's not out till June next year, but images from the shoot are starting to come through.

A father and son crash-land on Earth, one thousand years after humans abandoned it.
Starring Will and Jaden Smith.

For a second, I thought this had to do with Titan A.E.

It sounds like I Am Legend in space. WITH A TWIST!

Jaden's space suit looks like a fremen still suit from Lynch's Dune.
This is a good thing.

I disagree with you, and with that article. It looks like neither Lost In Space or Dune.

Quote:
In After Earth, one thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind’s new home. Legendary General Cypher Raige (played by Will Smith) returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai (played by Jaden Smith). When an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai’s craft, they crash-land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. His whole life, Kitai has wanted nothing more than to be a soldier like his father. Today, he gets his chance.

I can live with Shyamalan behind the wheel on this.

Even though I haven't seen his shittiest.

However, Will and his shitty kid on this ? Makes me hesitate.

New viral video, alternate earth history starting 1908... more to come, I'd say, but I like the use of the ufo crash in Siberia as a key event.

his shitty kid...

Can we insult his acting talent instead of him as a person?

Besides, this is the kid from the quite awesome Karate Kid reboot, AND from The Pursuit of Happyness.
The hell is wrong with you?

But, despite our disagreement on Smith and kid,

Shaymalan behind this is what REALLY makes me wince.
Dude has churned out crap after crap for so long, he's given me to good reason to think this one isn't going to follow that trend.
And despite my love for smith, he is definitely NOT about starring in shitty movies.

So... I'm very cautious.

Overreaction...

Who cares if he was in the Pursuit of Happiness?
