The Wild Things by Dave Eggers It's based on a screenplay for the movie and described more of Max's home life which I was missing in the movie so yay.

Dexter By Design - Jeff Lindsay Animal Farm - George Orwell
Sir Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four has always been my favorite, the horrors of statism and collectivism unveiled in a compelling story such as this. I have not finished reading his political fable or allegory, Animal Farm though, but I've read the first parts and it got me engrossed in the plot, honestly speaking.

I read Animal Farm along with Anthem in 9th grade as well. It was also good. Of course, I liked Anthem more because I'm a science fiction nut.

Although I'm a big fan of Star Wars, I don't usually read any of the novels. But Zombie Star Wars!?!?!?! Yes I read that.

Like you, I'm a science fiction fan but usually if I want to read stories that are simple to me or are easily digestible for my mind, I would read fables or allegories involving animals. They always interest me though.

"And Another Thing..." Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Part Six out of Three.
Douglas Adams always intended to write a follow-up to "Mostly Harmless," though he couldn't quite manage to finish it before his death in 2001. So who did the Adams estate get to step in? Eoin fucking Colfer, that's who.
Anyone familiar with Colfer's work can tell you that the man is a master wordsmith, very skilled at witty dialogue and comedic narration. Clearly, he's employed every skill he has to emulate Adams' style while creating something completely new. In particular, Colfer has "Guide Notes" scattered throughout the book, which provide satirical comedy from The Guide that could be read as asides from the ongoing narrative.
I'm halfway through the book right now and my only complaint so far is that the Vogon poem in pg. 65 is too good. I have no hesitation in calling it an entry in the H2G2 saga worthy of Douglas Adams himself. In fact, I'd be surprised if any fan out there could tell that this was written by a different author.
It's also worth noting that the book starts off with a brief and very funny recap of the series so far. So whether you're a fan of the H2G2 series or a newcomer to the whole thing, I heartily recommend this book.

Sooner now, probably, since you think it's so good. The last time I read any of the original books was in Junior High. It should be nice to read weird space humor again.

A Clash of Kings by George RR Martin. By no means a deep or technical read, but a really nice entertaining and immersive fantasy world that offers a nice break from the likes of James Joyce. Oh and by the way it is kind of weird how every other thread in the "GN" Section of the forum has died. What happened to Dr. Brooklyn?? With hum around the Best Batman Story" topic was always active

I'm almost done reading The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. And then it's on to Under the Dome by Stephen King! A book which I've probably underestimated the length of. (Amusing side note: While typing that last part I almost wrote misunderestimated. I'm afraid..)
