I'm actually pretty excited about this, I just hope the gameplay is good.

Anybody remember the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games? I think they were on SNES and/or Sega Genesis. This game should have that kinda' gameplay, old school side-scrolling beat em' up.

This looks pretty decent for what it is so I'll probably be checking it out.

Although unfortunate, I will buy this. Simply because it's Watchmen, too.

Playing Rorschach won't be that bad, I suspect.

Just because it's a movie game, it doesn't have to be bad. Most movie games don't care if they're bad, because they just want kids to buy them, but if a company tries not to make a bad product, there's a better chance it won't be bad. A lot of movie studios have games made on the cheap, fast and dirty, by hiring shoddy game-producers and having them rush the product to conform with the movie's release date.

The Dark Knight was supposed to have a game, but they decided to not release it because they'd rather not have something shitty out there with the name The Dark Knight attached to it.

The reason why these games are going to be download-only is because Snyder doesn't want them to suck. He's stated that movie games are usually bad because they are rushed to market. By offering a Watchmen game that can be downloaded into small chapters, they will have lots of time to make these chapters "not suck."

Second that. I hate games based on movies (and vice versa), they suck.

Except Goldeneye!

You got me there, except Goldeneye then. ^^

They needed some sort of game mechanic. I know, it's silly, but let's see if it works.

They couldn't have an "erection" meter for Nite-Owl instead?

I would only like a Watchmen game if it wasn't based off of the GN or the movie.

I would want to see something like an mid 70's free roaming game where you play as Rorschach up to the events of the keene act and shortly after.

Maybe have it sorta like Spiderman 2 (one of the few movies games I like) and go around the city looking for crime.

But instead of it being cartoony, maybe make it a bit more GTA/Manhuntish in nature, minus the insane weapons (never wanna see Rorschach using a gun). Have the story narrated by your journal entries, maybe run into other vigilantes every now and then...

Utilize things you find on the street to kill your enemies (paper bags, pipes, tools, bricks etc.).

Have a stealth aspect too it for when Ror has to take down multiple armed enemies at once.

If done right, it would make a great game in my eyes.

I still wish there was an in-universe, cheesy, exaggerated Ozymandias game "developed" by Veidt Enterprises.

I totally agree... I think the same should've gone for all of the merch. What a great marketing in-joke; would've been a win - win situation.

I'm not really worried about the quality. It's just that video games are usually very morally straightforward. You are the good guy and oyu must kill the bad guys. There are few exceptions I can think of. Watchmen is more morally ambiguous. It doesn't seem to be something that ought to be a video game.

In the current era of video games?
I know that many games feature something or some group of things that the player has to destroy, but the concept of multiple endings is quite popular these days and usually brings in an element of moral ambiguity, especially when each possible ending depends on who you choose to "save", and how many characters you help during the game. It's not always as straightforward as it used to be.
Just think of Bioshock. One of the main activities in the game involves the choice of whether to "save" the Little Sisters or let them die, and it affects the end of the game.
I've also seen games where the objective is to destroy someone or something, but then the morality of that action is called into question during the storyline.
So yeah, it might not be prominent in all games, but moral ambiguity is certainly seen in some contemporary video games.

It probably won't even be relevant to this game, though, since it's in a different context from the actual story. But who knows, maybe they'll release another part where you're Ozymandias, and your actions determine whether you get the "I did it 35 minutes ago" ending or the "Oh crap, I should have done it 35 minutes ago!" ending.

It's not 2003 anymore. A lot of video games are more mature (not in their level of gore or violence) in their plots, characters, and feel. Fallout 3, Bio-Shock, GTA IV. There's probably some others, but my point is that video games are getting smarter and deeper.

Try figuring out what the last level will be without your head exploding.

A fight with Veidt that you can't win? lol
