does anyone think watchmen will do well in theaters? i just listened to a ign podcast and they said that watchmen will only make 100-120 million tops which is lower than the latest hulk movie, i hope it does well but i have a feeling it might not.

I'm hoping it can at LEAST grab the #1 spot for one weekend.

Doesn't look like it will be a problem though.

IGN's full of bull. Like most review sources, they're sponsering determines what they think.

I think, if done pretty well-great, WATCHMEN should (nationally) gross at least 200 million. Hopefully more.

What else is coming out in early March? From what I can tell, absolutely nothing.

Making up my own statistics (I added that line to prevent Witty James from saying "lol 99% of stats r maed up") about the people I've seen reacting when Watchmen is mentioned:

40%: Wow that movie looks awesome! But I haven't read the book
30%: Looks great, and I'm a fan of the book
20%: I'm a fan of the book and I know it's going to suck and be nothing like the book and everything will be changed and it'll suck. It'll also suck
10%: Looks stupid and I've never read the book

In other words, those who haven't read the novel are more likely to see it, but those who have are only slightly more likely to watch it. I blame this on those people not reading any interviews or watching any video journals and basing their claims entirely off of A) The trailers and B) The squid being removed.

If it's a good film, I reckon it'll do extremely well. After the first weekend, it really comes down to reviews and word-of-mouth. This explains why Hulk bombed after an initial rush, also TDTESS and The Spirit. They sucked, and word gets around fast. If there's a rush of good initial reaction, it'll probably be a runaway success. It looks so far like Snyder has really grabbed this opportunity to grow up as a film-maker, and if that's the case then there should be some good buzzing. Fingers crossed. I want to believe...

Yup. No idea which movie it'll be attached to though. Hopefully it'll be red-band.

I hoping for some red-bandage, too.

However, I wouldn't be shocked if they figured, "You know, they got that MySpace featurette, they got the Japanese trailer, and they got the stupid TV spot. What the hell do they need another trailer for?"

I'm hoping they don't get all corporate on us, but, again, I wouldn't be blown away if it happened.

Yeah, as an example, look at the last 2 James Bond movies. Casino Royale had a slow start considering it was riding off the last bond movie (The craptastic Die Another Day) not to mention, people had ? marks about Daniel Craig as Bond.

It came out, word of mouth spread about Craig and the movie itself, that it being awesome (which I agree so) and it made $594 mil Worldwide.

Quantum of Solace, even while riding off Casino's monster success, word of mouth was not all that great, and it actually ended up making a smidge less than Royale, at $551 mil Worldwide.

Interview with Snyder about his decisions in casting the roles of Rorschach and Dr. Manhattan:

Sort of brief, but whatever.

At the same time, it's cool to hear that they threw out Billy Crudup's name early on, while Jackie Earle Haley had to chase it down. I remember hearing they had cast Billy Crudup and just thinking, "Now why didn't I think of that!?" His MasterCard voice is very ominous.

Ozymandias action figure: $7
Medical bills after spraining your ankle jumping out a window: $274
Technologically advanced flying airship: $235,000
Tricking the world into peace by destroying New York City: Priceless

There are some things Adrian Veidt's billions of dollars can't buy. For everything else, there's MasterCard.

He paid for it with a garbage truck full of Ozymandias action figures and Veidt sneakers.

I believe this was part of the RPG game . . . (sarcasm disclaimer)
