So, I know that there's a Watchmen cosplay thread but I decided to start this one because I thought it would be interesting. Have any of you ever dressed up as a character for a convention or something like that? (I'm sure a lot of you have.)

Also, I thought of the thread after I decided to dress up for the first time in the most practical costume ever for a convention next month.

Easy enough to gather the components for that ensemble.

And I ordered a replica death note. That along with the fact that I kind of look like Light without my glasses makes the easiest, least cumbersome costume in recent history as far as I know.

Not like this guy.

I once went to school as Agent Smith, with a suit and sunglasses. The real performance was the fact that I spoke in Hugo Weaving's voice all day long.

That man is the white Morgan Freeman.

I'm not big on dressing up, but once when I was five I dressed up as Batman for Halloween. The Adam West Batman. I wore a homemade costume. Black material was apparently scarce as my mom had to settle on making my cape out of a black garbage bag. :|

My kindergarten class was then taken around to each classroom to show off our costumes. Some older kid said "hey, that kid's wearing a garbage bag!".

And so began my hatred for Halloween.

Holy shit that Grievous costume is one of the greatest homemade costumes I've ever seen (saw a video of it).

Oh cool! It's nice to see a thread about this.

I'm going to cosplay Envy from Fullmetal Alchemist soon.

Anyone familiar with that character?

Yeah....his outfit is.....pretty skimpy! LOL. But you know....one time I cosplayed before in an outfit that I got seriously hot in.

This outfit isn't as skimpy as a bikini anyway and it's not going to fall off or anything.

This is Envy:

I'm just as skinny as him so hopefully it works okay. lol. I already have some parts of the outfit done.

I'll try to post pics at some point if I remember when it's finished.

This is the funniest goddamn story I've heard in months. It has everything: Hero worship (implied), parentally-caused humiliation, bitterness of the soul.

Thanks to Raine for posting in this thread because, otherwise, I don't think I would have seen it.

About two or three years later my Dad took me to a comic book convention to see Batman & Robin. Since I was only familiar with them from their appearances on the 60's Batman & Robin, I was convinced two lookalikes had been hired to dress up as them. Both Batman & Robin seemed much.....thicker than usual. It wasn't until years later that I discovered it actually had been Adam West and Burt Ward.

I didn't know that Envy was a male. Or do homunculi not have genders or something?

I'm only an occasional watcher of Fullmetal Alchemist.

This is like Freiza all over again.

Of course Frieza is a dude. Why would you think he was a girl?

Because he looks like a girl and sounds like a girl.

Wikipedia wrote:
His voice in the English dub is criticized; with that and various features in his character design like his dark colored lips leads to some gender confusion with new fans.

i'm pretty sure they refer to Frieza as 'he' or 'him' several times throughout the show. the purple never confused me, and the fact that no woman looks like that made it simple enough for me to figure out he was a dude. he never had any tits.

My comments still stand. Frieza looks and sounds like a girl. In his first and final form, anyway. So does Envy.

Wikipedia wrote:
Envy is the third homunculus to appear in the series. He can assume any appearance he wishes. When not in disguise, he prefers the form of an androgynous figure.

Interesting...

Envy definitely looks like a girl... but Frieza didn't have tits.
