Captain America only lost to Batman via modifications in my scenario. I don't think my (technically John Byrne's) scenario tipped anyone's favor in this particular fight. It was a straight-up vote and more people thought Batman would win.

Anyway, I would argue that Batman's established character and M.O. should not count as a modification. Also, Captain America does not have any superhuman powers.

Well, technically superhuman means above human, and because of the super soldier serum his ntelligence, strength, agility, dexterity, and pretty much every other tat is above an average human (hence how he can fight the Hulk, Iron-Man, and everyone else)

So he does have powers

It has been established throughout his 70 year history that (from Wikipedia) "Captain America's strength, endurance, agility, speed, reflexes, durability, and healing are at the highest limits of natural human potential." So, not superhuman, but at the highest limits of human potential. His intelligence was not affected by the super soldier serum (although he's clearly an intelligent dude).

No superhuman powers.

Can we please get a couple more votes for Kitty Pride so we can end this?

I already voted... for Robin

And that's what they say about Ozy, but he can catch a mother fuckin' bullet. I'd say moving that fast is like a super power

Also, I thnk we've been going about getting Dr. M a foe the wrong way, really nobody except a god could go up against him, and then there could really be no winner because neither could be destroyed, but this guy

Image

would fight the smart fight, not by fighting Dr. M, but by going back in time to shove the fatman out of the way, allowing the watch to go unbroken, and Jon to be nowhere near the 15th intrinsic field expieriment

But that would require Herculean strength.

Kitty is winning 10 votes to 3. I think you might as well call it.

ROUND OVER. The tally so far:

Round 1: Captain America vs. Batman, 6-10.
Round 2: Kitty Pride vs. Robin, 10-3.

For Round 3, I think the time is ripe to put Rorschach against the Joker.

As always, suggestions are welcome as long as they don't slow down the fight. Personally, I'm still bullish on Ozymandias vs. Wolverine. I'd also love to see Dr. Manhattan take on the Saint of Killers, though I'm worried that might come to a draw.

BEGIN THE FIGHT!

How? I'm leaning towards Rorschach, but I'm willing to be swayed this go round.

Well, let's see. As far as intelligence goes, Joker wipes the floor with ol' Blotface. As for moves, Rorschach is more of an impromptu guy whereas Joker has some nice little toys to do the work. And by that, I mean guns or henchmen (or other various weapons Joker has been known to use). So Rorschach might have to go through a bunch of henchmen, only to finally be shot in the end by Joker, or given a dose of laughing gas.

No henchmen. Just Joker and whatever toys he brought along. They'd certainly be powerful enough to do the job, but Rorschach has been known to make some powerful improvised weapons and he's good at using his opponents' tools and momentum against them. For the sake of fairness, let's assume that Rorschach has his grappling gun.

WJK is absolutely right when he says that Joker is smarter than Rorschach and I could see Kovacs succumbing to some of his taunts or mind tricks. Then again, if Batman could trounce the Joker umpteen times, so can Rorschach.

Mentally, the Joker is better. Physically, it's Rorschach. They're pretty even in terms of weapons, though I think Joker has a slight advantage.

Personally, I think it all depends on how quickly Rorschach can get in his first strike. If he gets in the first punch and keeps Joker in arm's reach, he's got this. If he gives Joker too much time to wear him down with tricks and toys, it's gonna get real ugly real fast.

I think that Rorschach would beat The Joker like a rented mule.

He's just a better fighter. I only see The Joker winning if he were to quickly shoot Rorschach in the head or something like that.

This is tough, because we're letting them use weapons. If it's a fist fight, I give it to Rorschach. But if Joker has weapons, what weapons is he using? This matters when it comes down to who will win. If he has knives in the tips of his shoes, or a belt that sprays laughing gas, or ring that shoots bullets, or Lord knows what, than I might have to side with The Joker. Really, it could go either way. So for future fights I'd make it so that both fighters only have one weapon at their disposal.

Ugh...I vote Joker.

Even if they have weapons, movie Rorschach dodged friggin' automatic ones.

Anyways, it's a tough match, REALLY tough, but I'm gonna go with Rorschach, he may not be as smart as Joker, but if he survives the latter's tricks, then he wins by far, specially since Rorschach is not the squeamish kind, or a "talking villain" for that matter.

But if the Joker gets in close and sprays him with his "knock out" boutonnière, Rorschach goes down. And then the Joker can just take out a knife and stab him.

^ That to me is dodging bullets.

this isn't dodging, it's poor aim combined with the fact that rorschach was already running when the gunman opened fire.

also, that guy had to come up the stairs since rorschach used the butt end of a rifle to knock a dude down, who in turn took another with him. plus he was shooting through the banister, which didn't help the already poor aim. ergo, rorschach got lucky.
