Why? That I'm saying that people are fed up with massive government? that idea has been around for as long as there has been government. I'm not condoning their actions, rioting is never an answer, a peaceful protest would have been a far better solution.

Once again, I'm not condoning revolution or violent protesting... I just am not a fan of big government and it seems these people aren't either

I'm sure there are a number of reasons why there are protests, but I suspect the more violent ones have to do with the fact that there is a large police presence in the down town core, which some protesters have claimed are intimidating, and the fact so much money was spent on security, among other possible reasons.

This is my understanding, as well, that there are almost as many reasons for protest as there are protesters (although, the one billion dollars of taxpayer money spent by Toronto seems to be a recurring theme amongst this particular occasion).

One of the more interesting things about G8 and G20 summits is the repeated use of agents provocateurs to more quickly bring the protests to violence so as to justify a show of force by the police.

Also, here is an interesting article about the Black Bloc, who seem to be getting most of the blame this go round.

So there was a mini protest today. Since it's Canada Day and most people had the day off a few hundred marched downtown, protesting the actions of the police made during the summit. It was a peaceful protest.

On a somewhat unrelated note I came across this funny sign that was spotted by someone during the riot:

I disagree. McDonald's made mediocre pizza.

I agree with the crazy sign guy, but only because I've never tasted this so-called...pizza.

You didn't miss out. Actually I've discovered that it was only available in Canada. Probably so they could test the waters to see if people would like their pizza before bringing it to the U.S. I think it only lasted a few years. I remember it used to come in a little pizza box (which would be brought to your table, very fancy) and a little stand to set it on:

I remember they also had a week (or month) where they had a Japanese theme. I remember getting a meal that came in a black box with a fire design on it. It came with chopsticks to eat your McNuggets and fries with.

Wow, I never even knew that existed. How is the aftermath of the riots by the way? Fairly back to normal now?

Yeah, things are pretty much back to normal. There was a noticeable police presence a few days ago but I think that will start to fade. Tomorrow is the big Gay Pride parade so that should put everyone in good spirits, at least for the time being.

lol I didn't read that as the big Gay Pride Parade. I accidentally read it as the Big Gay Pride Parade.
