What about Gerard Butler as Butcher?

I think he'd be good at it.

So I have
Butcher: Gerard Butler
Wee Hughie: Simon Pegg
The Female: Yeah... I'm having trouble with this one
The Frenchman: Jackie Earle Haley (Not sure why, but I think he'd do pretty good with this character)
Mother's Milk: Dennis Haysbert (You Americans know him as the Allstate guy)

sounds good to me

i just started volume 2 last night having finished the walking dead omnibus, and it's got off to a good start,

Finished Vol. 3: And I have a revised cast list

The Legend: Danny Devito
The Homelander: Nathan Fillion
Queen Maeve: Julianne Moore
Black Noir: Doens't matter because he doesn't talk alot
The Deep: _____________________
A-Train: I'm probably going to get some flack for this... NPH. think he would be very good in this part
Jack from Jupiter: It will probably just be a voice role, so I want Kevin Conroy
Starlight: ____________________

I like Daniel Craig, like I have a man crush on him, but I think Butler would be a muchbetter Butcher

I don't think Clive would have the roguish charisma to be Butcher, something that I think Butler (especially in The Ugly Truth) can do

lol, yeah pretty much, but seriously, his character in shoot'em up shows he has all the right "roguish charisma" for butcher.

These are usually the times when I can't take Ennis seriously.

Does he want to criticize superheroes and how they have overrun the comic-book industry ? fine by me !

Does he want to criticize the morality of superheroes and how they wouldn't be able to stop threats like terrorism ? fine by me !

Does he want to criticize the dynamics between superheroes and their corresponding villains ? fine by me !

But when he portrays almost every single superhero as a drug-addicted, sexually perverted nymphomaniac asshole, then how I can really take all of his criticisms with a straight face ?

Most people with a lot of power do end up as a drug-addicted pervert asshole though. Most rockstars and hollywood actors anyway.
Anyway, not ALL the superheroes in the boys are bad people.

I wouldn't be too sure of that, one might make that assumption seeing how often the media destroys anyone who gets their hand caught in the cookie jar.

That's one of my prime examples right there, on one issue Butcher says The Boys are meant to intimidate if a super hasn't crossed the line, and the next issue they fuckin' kill a whole super-team without even flinching, all without any consequences for them or not even a reaction from anyone, that's precisely when I wonder if I'm taking the comic too seriously.

I wouldn't have said almost if I hadn't remembered Love Sausage or Starlight.

And I've been waiting for Butcher to turn bad a long time ago ever since he pushed that button back in Russia :| , that was just over the top.

Sorry, I meant "Super-Duper" That was my ms

I think you might be looking at this series wrong, because honestly this series is probably the closest we'll ever get to a modern Watchmen. The story is taking a crack at big business and leaders in general and showing them to be corrupt and abusive, which many are.

Last I read was # 40, I could've sworn those guys were going to be perverts again, but it turned out quite the contrary.

No debate there, Ennis expresses his point very clearly through Vought-American.

Don't get me wrong, I like the series, it's just that I don't know what to think about some of the things that have happened in the story so far, like Butcher pushing the button in Russia, if it was another comic I would've accurately concluded that a character that does that can't really be a "good guy" anymore, but god only knows what Ennis condones or doesn't condone.

In any case, I wanna know what the fuck happened with Mallory, we need to meet the man quickly.

I just like the way that Mallory has been slowly built up as the mysterious badass former leader.
I think the sooner we see him, the less cool it would be.

I'm very curious about seeing if Mallory is more radical then Butcher, Mallory was the one who killed the torchlighter, but on the other hand it seems that he was kinder or more caring than Butcher, as expressed by Frenchie.
