I am feeling a bit of abrasivement from you folks- as if to respond to my comments somehow puts you out of your way, or it is a topic talked to death here.

To get a better response from you folks- how about you all tell me how long you've been a comics fan, what kind of fan you are, what kind of collection you have... you know- bragging rights.

I have an excellent collection of Valiant comics worth a lot even today. Also have a 70's-90's collection of Marvels and a few DC's. My favorite artist is Rags Morales and my favorite inker is either Bob Almond or Bob Layton. My favorite writer is Jim Shooter. This is my deal- what's yours?

Watchmen was more or less my first comic. I first read that in 2007 or so. My comics collection is mostly comprised of Preacher, Scott Pilgrim, Sandman, Bone, and a couple of Batman comics here and there (Arkham Asylum and The Killing Joke, mostly).

I'm really much more of a movie fan, as my blog will surely testify.

This is truly a madhouse. And I'm the lunatic running it. I've spent three years wondering if I should be proud or ashamed.

As a kid I grew up on the Batman and X-men cartoons of the early nineties, and became pretty obsessed with those two properties, and in highschool I started reading trade paperbacks, starting with Batman and X-men stuff, because that was what I was already familiar with, and then delving deeper by getting trades out from the library and reading things like Identity Crisis, Watchmen and Sandman. I then discovered the world of downloading comics (illegally), and that's what really set me off into reading anything and everything I could (currently I have over 100GB of comics on my hard drive), and the stories that I really truly adored, I would buy the trade paperbacks of, but I only really got into buying single issues a couple of years ago, and now I purchase about thirty titles a month from my local store.
I enjoy reading comics from pretty much every era, and my favourite comic run is probably Chris Claremont's run on Uncanny X-men.
My top five favourite writers are probably Chris Claremont, Grant Morrison, Alan Moore (of course), Neil Gaiman (who I have actually met in real life, and our meeting is my current facebook display picture) and Paul Dini, but now after writing this I'll probably think of someone else later that shoulda been on my top five instead of one of those guys.
My favourite properties (off the top of my head, yet again), are X-men, New Mutants, Animal Man, Batgirl (Stephanie Brown) and The New Gods.
My favourite artist is either Bill Sienkiewicz or Alex Ross.

Well, I think what first introduced me to comics was cartoons like Spider-man, X-men, Batman, and Superman in the nineties. I never really got into comics until I picked up a copy of Watchmen, but before that, comics I would read on a fairly regular basis were things like Star Wars Tales, Sonic the Hedgehog, Spider-man, and Treehouse of Horror. Then after seeing The Dark Knight (which made me think to start reading Batman trades like crazy) and skimming this site, I started to actually gather knowledge about comics and buy collected editions in stores. Now I've got quite a few hanging around my room, a lot of which consist of Spider-man and Batman stories, but I've got other assorted things as well. Also, downloading comics like Smutty said is really helpful and has helped me to read a lot of stories I wouldn't have been able to without having to kill my parents, collect their life insurance, and sell their house.

Because I like comics to such a degree at this point, that's probably what would have happened. It's a problem.

I wouldn't take it too personally. Most of us have been posting here since 2007, when there were a lot more active members. Since then, despite the fact the movie has come and gone, some of us still post here on a regular basis. We still post here, I think, because we've come to depend on the fact this forum is always active. If I post something on WCM, I can bet on a response that same day, usually even that same hour. So we've got a bit of a tight community here. We all know each other's real names, and most of us our friends on facebook (two members even met in real life and started dating). My point is, it's rare for new members to suddenly fit right in. Most (well, probably all) of us can be dicks, and we get into arguments quite often. It's actually kind of amazing that we still manage to get 20 something members visiting the site on a regular basis. The thing is, we don't tend to talk that much about Watchmen. The movie section is probably the most active board on the forum.

The good news is there is going to be a new Watchmen series, so for the first time ever we'll all be on equal footing. Some members here read Watchmen when it originally came out, others shortly before the movie was released. Now, we have a new take on Watchmen available to us(those of us willing to read it, that is), and we're all in the same boat.

I'm a pretty big comic reader, I read everything from stuff like Nancy in Hell to Captain America. I have over 1500 individual issues in my room as well as over 120 trades, not to mention the 100s (if not 1000s) of downloaded comics.

Favorite characters include Captain America, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Namor, The Demon, Deadpool, Catwoman, Guy Gardner, Jame Reyes (aka Blue Beetle III) and Iron Man.

Favorite Series at the moment are (in now order except for Scalepd being the best) Scalped, Invincible, Captain America, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman, Batman and Robin, and Justice League.

I started out watching all those animated series in the 90s (Batman, Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, etc.) and from there I started to read comics a bit. Before I got really into reading them (as in DC/Marvel), I would mostly read Star Wars, Sonic, Calvin & Hobbes, Duck Tales, and other similar titles. At some point in high school, I decided to delve deeper into the DC/Marvel universes, as well as other comic brands (Image/Vertigo). I haven't read much lately, the last new comics I remember reading were The Walking Dead #93 and stuff from The New 52 (mostly Swamp Thing).

I'm a much bigger movie fan than comic fan.
But I do love comics. I have around 400.
My favorite characters are Judge Dredd, The Phantom, The Punisher, and Spider-Man.
I have a blog where I review movies, and ocassionally a video game or two,
but generally I just like weird stuff, offbeat stuff, and the like.
I dig anime, but am extremely picky.
I am a dick alot of the times but try to get along with everyone.
I don't even bother with ongoing series. I'm not committed enough.
But if I'm so inclined, I might get a first issue, then just download the rest.

If any of us has felt like "tough crowd" to you, then believe us when we say it's not intentional, we're all (sort-of) good friends around here, we all enjoy movies, comics and videogames, we reject no one and accept all walks of life and all types of nerdyness !

If there's one curious thing that you'll notice by now, is that there's a "resident fan" for everything here, there's at least one person for every nerd shit that has earned some degree of following, and thus, when we must know about Spider-Man, we go to Godziller, when we must know about X-Men, we go to Smutty, if anyone here gave any sort of a fuck about The Hulk, then people probably would go to me, though that has never happened

My particular tastes in entertainment focus mostly on comics, television shows and movies.

In comics, mainstream-wise I like to read Batman, Superman, Hulk and Punisher, my tastes are "mostly" centered around those characters, apart from DC and Marvel I try to find good stuff among Vertigo, Image and Dynamite, with titles like Scalped, The Walking Dead, Red Sonja, The Boys, etc. I also enjoy everything by Garth Ennis. Though my favorite comic of all time is the "Hellblazer" on-going by Vertigo, it has it's ups and downs, but it's worth the risk when you read something good with the best comic book character ever created.

In regards to television, I like to watch Breaking Bad, Mad Men (hopefully to come back on March), Game Of Thrones, Homeland and Dexter (even if this one has gone off rails since the second season started, but it's still good). My favorite television show of all time is "Six Feet Under" by Alan Ball, masterfully written, masterfully acted, and with an ending that really left The Sopranos with no excuses as to what that "final episode" was.

In regards to movies, I pretty much like "everything", if it's good, I'll watch, though my tastes tend to by more centered around the 70's and 80's, when there was a still a healthy degree of cynicism and a willingness to make art in the film in the industry, that said, I enjoy everything by my favorite director Stanley Kubrick, with that one exception called "Eyes Wide Shut". My favorite movies (because this really is like picking my favorite child) are, in no particular order, 2001: Space Odyssey, Vanishing Point, Heat, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and The Salton Sea.

But yeah, just to further what I was saying before, comics are pretty much my main recreational activity, I don't watch tv except for a couple of series that I download after they've finished, and I only go to the movies about two or three times a year, so I don't have any kind of movie blog to link you to like most of the guys here.

hey jmpet (jumpjet?) honestly I have only bought 2 or 3 "proper comics" in my entire life, as a kid I would regularly buy funny British comics, but they don't really count, it was probably only about 4 or 5 years ago that I got into buying trade paperbacks of comics, starting with Marvel Zombies, which led me to Ultimates, which led me to Superman Red Son and a few other Mark Millar books, which led me to buy a few other multiverse type and standalone Marvel and DC books, Fantastic Four: First Family, Batman: Vampire, Marvel 1602, JLA: The Nail, DKR/DKSA, Marvels, Kingdom Come, etc, and then got Watchmen and got into Alan Moore, LoEG, V for Vendetta etc, the things like Hellboy, I read all of Gaiman's Sandman, and Ennis' Preacher, and I'm generally up to date (tpb-wise) with the Boys

My favorite properties are Valiant. But I have a collection going back to the 70's of mostly Marvel Comics. Valiant had a real shot of becoming something big but greed won out in the end.

By properties I meant characters and series. The only Valiant character I really even know anything about is Magnus, Robot Fighter.
