I actually think this looks pretty cool, it's a simple concept:

Marky Mark + Crude Teddy Bear = Laughter

Don't know why people have to get all snobby about it

We're on the same wavelength on this, you and I.

Good to know !

Oh, well frankly that's alot less attractive. I was on the assumption he'd do his natural voice or something much smoother. But if he does like a dumbass then I'm not sure because it doesn't sound like a great idea or anything to begin with. I probably sound really shallow right now.

You need to go to the ear doctor man ! It sounds nothing like Peter.

If comparisons must be made, then Ted sounds like Brian.

Though to be fair ALOT of humor on Family Guy is centered around presentation, whether it be vocally or visually. Family Guy on paper isn't that funny to be honest and MacFarlane's voice-acting makes the show more often then not. But I don't like Family Guy alot so whatever.

I wasn't being entirely serious though that is disappointing to hear he'll use a voice that is exactly like the main character in his biggest series. Might be nice for marketing purposes.

You need to take your own advice. Are you tone deaf, he sounds way more like Peter than he does Brian. Brian's voice is pretty much Seth's voice. Go on youtube, watch the trailer again, and actually listen to some clips of Peter and Brian.

50/50

Ted has Peter's nasal sounding voice, but the tone itself is lower, much more akin to Brian's.

Before we all die can you at least just admit once that you were wrong?

You flatter yourself to think that if I die bitter and angry it will be a result of one guy i've never met.

wait... what? How would you know?

So I've rewatched the trailer a few times now and I stand by my oriignal comment, the thunder buddies scene is cute and makes me laugh... the rest of the trailer just makes this movie look like Seth is trying to be as vulgar as he can... and vulgarity for the sake of vulgarity is not funny to me.

Okay, I'll concede that in some parts of the trailer he sounds like Brian, but I still hear more of Seth's Peter voice (which always sounded like it was inspired by Carroll O'Connor). Also, it sounds like Wahlberg is maybe exaggerating his Boston accent a bit, so it would make sense for Seth to try to mimic it, seeing as how Ted's voice probably was born out of Wahlberg's character's imagination. But I think Seth is probably just trying to do a voice other than Peter, but hasn't completely achieved it, since it looks like the voice of Peter would fit so well with the character.

Nice thoughts on where Ted's voice comes from !

I think it's a mix, the nasal part is deffinitely Peter's, but it seems too low to really be him, and at the same time it blocks complete similarities to Brian.

The Red Band trailer looked like everything that's been wrong with Family Guy for the past seasons. The Green Band trailer actually looked funnier because it showed at least more scenes and not just jokes that were obviously beaten to the point of death. It doesn't look terrible, but this is one of those movies I'll wait until it comes on TV or that I'll just let my friends drag me to see it.

Finally got around to seeing the red-band.

I like the premise, and it's good to see Mark Wahlberg when he's given something to work with, but I doubt MacFarlane's ability to keep it going for two hours. If this was a one-hour pilot for a new TV show, that'd be one thing. But this... I dunno.

Exactly. The moments where it's just them fucking around is pretty hilarious.

In fact, would anyone else prefer it if this movie was a Kevin Smith-styled slice of life comedy that just followed these two around?

see, i feel the opposite, if this was a TV show it would get old fast, but i think ~100 minutes, or however long might be, will not be too long.
in 100 minutes they can do every joke once, because there will be no reason to repeat any, it can't fall into a rut, therefore we should be safe.

as for the voice, i would say it just sounds like Seth MacFarlane putting on a silly voice with a Brooklyn accent, you can hear bits of Peter, and Brian and maybe even Quagmire, and Roger from American Dad, but he's just one guy, and he does loads of unique voices throughout Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show, eventually he's going to reach the point where new voices are going to sound like ones he's done previously.
