Have been teaching a art class, and just started more present day art...
Been telling the chitlins about Bansky...

Anyone here familiar with this(for lack of better words) graffiti art movement?

http://www.banksy.co.uk/

Pretty neat stuff if you havent seen it before, I have always found it very humorous with a serious foundation.

enjoy

Banksy has a book out with a lot of his work in it. costs around 20quid.... 'Walls and Piece' i think its called.

I have a few pics on my phone of Banksy's work that I have stumbled across while wandering around London. Always feels good to find one down some quiet street or alley....

I was actually thinking of making a post about him a while back but never did. For those unfamiliar with him, here's one of his most well know pieces:

Oh, I love banksy. I found his website several years ago and always found it delightful and inspirational (I'm in the states though so I've never seen any of his work personally). I love finding illicit art in public places.

I know there are a few other people who do (or did) similar graffiti art, but unfortunately banksy's the only name I can associate with it. Didn't he also pull some kind of prank on an art gallery? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Interesting, http://bleklerat.free.fr/ showed up as "questionable/illegal" in my companies filters. Must investigate further. lol

Banksy's work pretty is much part of the landscape in London. For me it's all about reclaiming public space, given our environments are now totally dominated by corporate messages for which we never gave our permission.
